Why we need to port ROM is a good question. But before that we should know what porting actually is! If you use Nougat ROM as a base ROM to port other Nougat ROM, this is the best preference. Apart from below mentioned files do not replace any other file, that may lead to bootloop or may give rise to so many bugs.
Always be specific. Porting ROM is not for lazy people as it requires lot of time and dedication and little brain as well.
