Scanpst Outlook 2016
Hi I have a local pst file (9.5GB) that I use for daily work. I sync my Outlook data to my smartphone via a sync software and sometimes I have the sync software crashing. I was asked to check for integrity of my pst file.
I did run scanpst.exe and had the same error over and over (meaning that if I try to fix it and check again it shows the same error) and it seems like scanpst is unable to fix the problem. I do not know how to interptet the errors from the log. Can anyone who has some knowledge explain to me what is happening? Hello Jeraldine, I thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, your three links do not help me in any way. If you carefully read my question I am asking how to interpret the output of the log of scanpst. I am not asking how to repair a pst file. I do not know why you did get this idea reading my post.
Could you please be more specific in answering my questions? I wish to have direct answers to what are all those ' Failed to add row to the FLT, RowID = 5C7', how to correllate those lines to real folders (if it refer to folders in withing pst file, and how to repari them.
I run scanpst three times and it does NOT repair nothing. Thank you, Spiro. I will try to do so but I wish to ask a technical question because it does not make sense to me to repari Outlook.
Only after your reply I will repair Outlook, in question the entire Office suite. #1 - Repairing Office is not going to have any impact on fixing a PST file, but. #2 - Repairing Office would never hurt anything whether required or not #3 - Probably very unlikely that you're going to find 'detailed' answers to ScanPST log entries given the complexity of a PST file and there are probably very few people who know all the internal's regarding ScanPST and PST file structure.
ScanPST errors are not intended to interpreted by the general public. Suggest you contact MS Support if you want to pursue detailed info related to ScanPST and your particular PST file. With that said. #4 - One of the most common problems resulting in PST corruption is the use of addins that directly (and incorrectly) write to the PST file causing errors especially if this happens on a recurring basis. Migrate data to another pst is not a solution, new file becomes corrupted soon thereafter.
